On April 28 2008 we had a club-wide meeting and took a vote on Uniforms.  Our new official club colors were unanimously chosen as Red and White.  This was chosen mostly for economic reasons and to take advantage on years of most team wearing Red and White.  At the the same time we choose not to force any team to change it's existing colors.  SO if the Cobra's want to stay pumpkin and white then they are welcome to do that.  New teams will all be Red and White going forward.  Jim noted that our uniform blog entry and our   Team Contacts and info page have grids that indicate each team's existing Uniform color as of 2007.  If you team changes colors to Red and white please comment below.  Or if your team changes contact information or wants to list a phone number etc please let Jim E know.

Where we get uniforms is not completely settled. THe majority of the resources, options and Discussion on the subject are located at www.ChallengersSoccer.com/logos.htm

All comments shold be posted below.  We need your input and your feedback on th
e service you have gotten from vendors.

Eddie sent over these 2 uniform sources  Eastbay    and   pack2 he says he has more sources

Soccer 2000 suggested to possibly look into choosing one uniform of choice for the entire club.  This would help both the club and the store maintain a proper inventory of all required product for the club.
Brands carried by Soccer 2000  can be viewed at these links:  adidasadidas   NikeNike   PumaPuma   XaraXara

(these links are not to the soccer2000 website but I'll bet they are the same uniforms Soccer 2000 can get for us).

See photos and prices and logo artwork etc at www.ChallengersSoccer.com/logos.htm

Please review the uniform options in the links above and comment below.  If you have a favorite just list the brand, style and colors.  We can easily find them with these links above.

The Pythons as a whole have decided to stick with what we're using and order new for whoever needs one. Soccer 2000 should be able to accommodate this if we order soon enough. Prices are as follows: Jersey $22.75 Shorts $15 Socks $6 or $7.50, depending on style. They will silkscreen our logo (no setup cost) for $3 each, and will silkscreen numbers for $2.50 each. This is all per Brian Koenig of Soccer 2000.  Pythons have gotten very good service from Brian at Soccer 2000

For shirts that need repair I think that Kim at "Embroid Me" will sew on numbers if you want.  See links for her contact info on the web page linked above.

Kim at "Embroid Me" has our embroidery logo and can add numbers if you want.  See links for her contact info on the web page linked above.  I think that yer logo is too small for most of our players it was designed for our u7 team.  Ask her if she can print it larger.  I think that the screen on the front of our jerseys are normally 3.6" accross while her embroidery is only about 2.3" accross - Jim E

On 11/15 Eddie P had suggested that we talk to Nike about thier Youth Uniform discount program.  Jim E chimed in with this:

Towards the goal of minimizing confusion for new players.  It is bad for us and the uniform vendor when a challengers family orders the wrong uniform.  It is almost as bad when a kid buys his uniform and then changes to a more appropriate team level and must buy another uniform.  It is also an advantage for substitutions when a player does not have to figure out a new uniform to sub.
1.  Please double check that your  teams current uniform information updated on this blog page. Once it is all updated I will try to clean it up into a table.

2.       If you are not using Soccer2000 as your supplier please post your uniform source and costs in a comment.  Also post your sponsors and $ amounts if appropriate.

4.       Teams who do not blog may be ignored in decision processes.   Please blog rather than email on topic specific surveys as that saves everybody else time.

Finally: I would be interested in hearing what Nike has to say.  I believe that the Nike carries these Nike Uniforms It may be helpful if Nike had uniforms in red that are similar to current uniforms. I believe that Soccer 2000 also carried Nike. Thank you all for your comments

Tim Rowan and I both have new teams this year. Here is what we decided to do for our U10 and U11 boys teams.

Red and White colors. Since the current style is being discontinued after this year, we went with the following styles:
      Libero for the shirts
      Aquilla for the shorts
      Adidas Field Sock

We decided the backpack and training outfit should be optional for the team. For those that want to be consistent with their teammantes, we chose the Adidas Copa Edge Red backpack. For the training outfit, we chose the Charles River Olympia(Red, Black, and White for the jacket, and Black and White for the pants).

The new U10 tigers and U12 Wildcats are going with the old orange adidas uniforms, like the cobras. Instead of getting the white away jersey, the girls wanted navy blue. So both teams will be all orange for home games and Naperville North HS, Chicago Bear colored for away games.

Nike - They work with Soccer2000 and Soccer Post. We just need to pick a store. I will schedule something with Nike and hope everyone can make it.

Long term colors - Blue and Orange.

U12 Pythons are in the red Cosmos jerseys as well. Our alternate is white. I'm all for going to a single club outfit if that is what we want to do.

I tend more toward Adidas personally but if Nike wants to throw something our way I'm certainly not going to say no.

As for the color options I'm not much of a fan of the solid orange and blue combo - I'd prefer either one of those colors with white. I think it looks classier that way (I believe that North in the game I saw this fall sported the white jerseys with blue or orange lettering). The solid blue shorts and orange shirt look pieced together - they don't look like they are a single uniform at all. Besides, we saw at least three other teams in our age group in this at tournaments this fall...Steve mentioned the Navy as an alternate color what if we went this direction with some sort of white shorts? That's my two cents...

As I began writing this I have changed my mind a few times. I will just give you the current version. I am in favor of standard club colors and a standard club uniform. I look at our club team list and seeing 13 teams makes me realize that this is a fairly large club. As a coach, manager it would save me time to be able to send parents to get a standard uniform. I wouldn't feel like I had to track down a little bit better deal for the team. One less worry. Although on some level I like the flexibility of getting the uniform for our team, there comes a point that I really am not saving my team much more money and really just wasting my time.

Having said all that this is what I need as a coach, parent, manager:

I need a simple(easy to replicate) uniform so that if I add 2 new players the whole team doesn't need to purchase new uniforms. Plain red shirt, plain white home shirt, black shorts. Colors that can't be discontinued. I think dark color shorts is preferable over white(see thru & cleanliness issues). My older daughters were involved with clubs that had 'great' $200 uniforms that were discontinued every 2 years. As a parent this drove me crazy. As a team we were spending over $2,000 every 2 years on new uniforms. I look at that as 40 hours of paid training for the kids.
Our team(cheetahs) will need a uniform for the fall since the girls will be outgrowing their present uni's. I would like the next one to last thru U12, U13. We have 4 U-10 girls teams that will probably merge in some fashion as the girls get older and it will help to have a standard uniform. I think all of us only want to buy new ones when the kids need them. I don't want to be held hostage by vendors who are changing styles just to sell more uniforms.

The decision on color/style should be in place before next uniforms are ordered. I think each team is on a different time frame. For us that is before next summer.

Due to the elimination of the Adidas Cosmos jersey, the Cobras changed to the Adidas Libero Jersey for the fall 2007 season. For additional fun, we modified the club logo for the new jerseys. It is my understanding that we are the only Challengers team that continues to use The Soccer Post in Naperville for all of our gear.

For the fall season we secured 1 major sponsor; Potter's Place restaurant in Naperville and a small sponsorship from The Soccer Post also in Naperville. We continued to keep our jerseys, shorts, and socks orange w/white. Since we have only played against one other orange team in the last 3 years we don't order away jerseys. Instead, we have our logo and #'s printed on white T-shirts to save some money. Our sponsors paid 100% of our uniform costs (h/a jersey, short, and socks) along with logo, name and # printing (we always order 3 or 4 extra sets for guest or new players). We have found that our kids outgrow or destroy the uniforms about every 18 months.

We are open to making a move to Nike, but would like to stick with the orange and white colors.

Thanks Eddie for working on a deal with Nike - I also like the idea of a club sponsor.

If we want to get everyone on the same page, I think we will need to have a meeting with all of our club volunteers, team managers, and coaches. Uniforms are only one of the issues that need to be discussed as we continue to grow.
