The Fire Soccer Camp is on.  The  date of the Fire camp will be July 30 - Aug 3 from 3:30-6:30 pm. This is the week before the U11 (now U10) seeding tourney. Please inform your team parents of these dates as plans for the summer are being made now. Click for Fire Camp Flyer.   Click for Online Registration for Fire Camp.

I have had several useful conversations on why the club wants to "sponsor" a camp with the Fire and like to share some of this information. The term "sponsor" is a bit of an overkill because the camp does not  cost the club a dime, in fact we make money on the camp (yes I still owe most teams he $75 from last year). We get a kickback of $10 per player attending the camp - independent if the player is on a challenger team. The Fire pays for all costs of the camp (field fees, trainers, insurance).

We do not control who attends the camp. The registration will be done online and anyone can sign up. That means that our player will be surrounded at camp by players that are at different levels. In addition, the Challengers coaches do not have any control on what will be taught at the camp. For these reasons this Fire camp is not a replacement of a dedicated training camp for a team. I look at this Fire camp as a fun summer activity for my kid where he will learn a few useful things. In addition to the Fire camp I plan to host my own mini-camps for the teams I am coaching, but these will be closer to the actual start of the playing season. I have also heard that the Cobras are planning their own camp.

So in conclusion, the Fire camp is sponsored by the club since our kids want to be associated with the Fire camp, the Fire camp organization provides high quality instructors and have a reputation to protect.
