U11G Spirit will most likely not be at this tournament. Here is the story. I contacted the director Jim Weiskopf before I applied to see if the tournament was appropriate for us. He said that it was and that he would make sure he put us somewhere comfortable. However, he made a mistake, put us in the wrong bracket and put us playing all 'A' and 'B' teams (we are a 'D'). He is unwilling to fix this mistake and is trying to find a replacement for us. However, if he doesn't we are just out the $400. Please feel free to comment on this. I don't think it would be a positive experience to have this new team of girls who haven't even won a game yet get pounded by these teams. So the parents and I have decided to sit this one out. I know we could play for the experience and for some smaller goals like keeping the scoring to single digits maybe, but I just don't feel it's worth everyone's time and risk of injury. I really don't think they would learn much more than how good an 'A' team is from such a one sided game. We are very disappointed. The girls were very excited about their first tournament and the parents were excited about the location. Please feel free to comment. Also, please pass on any recommendations for a spring tournament.

Hi Bill--I'm sorry to hear this has happened. I don't understand why they're unwilling to switch the brackets around....they did it in the U12 Boys division. We (Pythons)were in one bracket and were switched to another about two weeks ago. I'm disappointed for you and your girls.

As for the spring, the Pythons attended a very nice tournament last spring hosted by the Hinsdale Hawks. Nice level of competitiveness without being cut-throat. We did well as a developing team. Games are all held in Oakbrook on the McDonald's Corporate grounds off of Jorie Blvd.

I was looking forward to watching your games and meeting you in person, but I think you made a smart decision. Hope to meet you soon!
