NEW! Late Optional Game Change Fees (LOGC fees)
After several season with little to no mid season game changes I suddenly dealt with 300 emails about late optional game changes in fall of 07. This caught us by surprise and we have not found volunteers to be excited about spending hours deciphering emails and blogs hunting down fields and referees for endless possibilities of changes. Further Brock at the NPD is not interested in dealing with multiple contacts for our club. One cause of LOGC's is that some professional coaches fail to plan ahead. The LOGC fee penalizes opposing teams who can not plan within the time frame accepted by thier league and attempt to go around the system by asking us to jump and bow to thier needs. At the same time LOGC exceptions allow for those who are dilligent and courteous enought to plan ahead.
If after the NISL official scheduling meeting or the IWSL scheduling deadline the other team asks you to change our home game this is what we will start to call "A Late Optional Game Change" (LOGC) Chaging a fee is an idea that came from other clubs who have policy and fee for LOGCs. Please advise the other team of these 3 points.
1. They can opt to forfeit or choose to pay a $85 LOGC fee. Write the check payable to Challengers Soccer Club and give it to Maureen Guttosch. They must pay this us up front.
2. Leagues charge thier own game change fee of $100-$150. Our new LOGC fees are not in lieu of these fees they are in addition to league fees (if applicable). The other team is also responsible for both fees.
3. Receiving their check still does not guarantee we can change to a better time. At our option, failed attempts at changes may or may not be refunded depending on the work involved in attempting the change and thier level of response.
LOGC fees collected will go in our general fund (like a club fund raiser). If we have the great number of request for field changed that we had in the fall of 07 then in the future we will have the funds to hire a person to fill this job. If your team is one that makes a lot of late changes then please consider adjusting your fees to cover any internal requests for field changes. To those teams who have successfully held the line and rarely or never request late field changes we appreciate the hard line you have taken with other teams who may be requesting spurious changes.
Of course, we will still deal with weather cancellations and added optional scrimmages etc with out fees unless they are poorly planned or poorly communicated. These situations usually unavoidable or in the best interest of everybody so they can and should not be discourged with a penalty fee.
Please post your feedback and questions below. They will help us improve this policy. So far the feedback has been positive.
